Welcome to Amsleigh Park Primary School. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you and your family to our School. Our welcoming and supportive community has a genuine desire to foster an active partnership between parents and staff to support the learning needs of every student.

With a teaching and support staff of 30 and an enrolment of 330 children, Amsleigh Park is a school of choice for the local community encompassing the surrounding suburbs of Oakleigh East, Oakleigh, Chadstone, Huntingdale and Mount Waverley. Our highly professional teaching and support staff provide engaging learning programs across all curriculum areas, with an emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy. In addition, we deliver specialist-teaching programs in Visual Arts, Physical Education, Performing Arts, German Language, STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths) and Reading Intervention.

Our teaching and support staff are exceptional, demonstrating high levels of care and dedication to our students. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, and aim to ensure that we go that ‘extra step’ for all.

At Amsleigh Park, we support our students to achieve their full potential, both as learners, and as members of our school community. The development of social-emotional skills is reinforced in all classrooms through school wide positive behaviour support (SWPBS). Consistent implementation of SWPBS enables our school to provide clear expectations for our students and teach them to develop important inter-personal skills.

We provide a comprehensive curriculum, with Humanities, Science, the Arts and Health explored through our inquiry-based, concept driven curriculum. We emphasise the use of technology to support student learning across the curriculum. Our excellent technology resources include a state of the art wireless network across the whole school. We maintain a STEM computer lab and provide interactive electronic whiteboards, IPads, Netbooks and Chromebooks in every classroom. Our students are able to use a range of digital learning resources to support and consolidate their learning including Mathletics-Maths Seeds and Reading Eggs.

As part of our extensive extra-curricular programs, all students develop their creativity and performance skills through our annual whole school production. Our school choir, the Leigh Club, provides students with an opportunity to perform in front of a range of audiences. Our Sport and Physical Education program focuses on the development of physical skills through Inter-school sport, swimming and PMP. Our highly successful school aerobics teams; Amsleigh Spirit, Intensity, Adrenaline and Extreme continue to achieve great success, and we have now acheived 4 National Championships.

Through a recently completed whole school modernisation our students and staff now enjoy state of the art, contemporary classroom learning spaces. The Award winning design (Best school Project between $5 and $10milion 2019) by Baldasso Cortese, includes a new Junior Learning Centre, and a complete modernisation of our heritage main building housing the Administration, Senior Learning Centre and Library. Our generously proportioned learning spaces offer excellent levels of comfort through air-conditioning, abundant natural light, ventilation and flexibility.

Our learning spaces are complemented by extensive outdoor play areas encompassing; three adventure playgrounds, a school oval, two basketball/netball courts and lots of open green space for our students to enjoy. A new adventure playground and an architect designed sensory garden further enhance the outdoor spaces and options for play and relaxation.

At Amsleigh Park PS, we are very proud of our students and maintain high expectations for their development and achievement. Developing student voice, agency and leadership is a priority of our current strategic plan. Our students are given many opportunities to showcase their special talents through our broad array of learning programs inclusive of Leadership which is encouraged through our Student Leadership Team and the Student Representative Council. Our Enviro-stars are champions of the environment, supporting students to take care of the world around them.
