In his characteristically pastoral way, Pope Francis urges us all to move out by seeing, judging, and acting with the Holy Spirit. We are called to respond to God’s ever-present challenge: “Dare to create something new.”

At Marcellin College, we understand that a successful school must adapt and change, constantly evolve and ‘dare to create something new’. Our innovative approach to education is informed by evidence-based learning and teaching that sits within our Catholic and Marist framework. Our Catholic identity and our Marist spirituality make us God centred and give us a world view. We encourage our young men to gaze upon creation with wonder and awe and our pedagogy must reflect that.

As a Catholic Marist school, Marcellin College is founded on Gospel teaching and the spiritual philosophy of Saint Marcellin Champagnat. His aim in building schools was two-fold. To educate young people so they could take their place as productive members of society and to make Jesus known and loved. Marcellin said that to do this successfully, as educators, we must love the students we teach and love them all equally.

These words speak of an environment where boys are known, where they are engaged and invited to find their place and where each boy is valued, respected and supported as they strive to reach their full potential.

The Marist Charism provides the College with a firm foundation for the development of best practice in boys’ education. This philosophy is founded on the five Characteristics of Marist education – Presence, Simplicity, Family Spirit, Love of Work and In the Way of Mary.

These characteristics provide a solid framework to guide learning and teaching at Marcellin College. More importantly, these ideas deeply influence every interaction between all members of our College family.

It is my hope and prayer that in partnership with each other, we can support your son as he strives for the highest with virtue and courage here at Marcellin College.
